This Sea Captain rough out is for the project that was featured in Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine’s issue 79 – Summer 2017 and the Booklet Carving and Painting the Sea by Dylan Goodson

The Sea Captain Rough out measures 14.5″ tall, 5.75″ wide and 3.25″ deep.  Included with the rough out are:

• four pages of full size color reference photos.
• a list of suggested tools
• instructions on fitting the dock posts together (The short posts are not included)

Each rough-out is made from high quality northern basswood, but may still contain minor flaws such as pin knots or brown streaks.  Due to the size of this rough-out, it is not uncommon for there to be a small amount of bark on the front corners of the base of the carving.
